Oi... Writer's Block

I'm not sure if you can make out the image above... one super hot and humid day, I looked out of my balcony and spied this guy lounging on a stump in the heat. Legs splayed out, lying in the sun. I thought he was dead at first, but I soon got him hopping around with a peanut or two.

You may be wondering why I chose this image to illustrate writer's block... but I'll tell ya... Lounging around is actually the perfect image for what has been happenin' around these parts.

COVID-19 may have initially seemed like a writer's wet dream... at home with unlimited time to write? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But then, reality sets in and you may realize that unlimited time is not necessarily the best time. Before the world went crazy, I tried to stick to a schedule. It seems far more important to get your words out and your voice heard when you only give yourself an hour or two a day. However, when you have hours and hours of nothing ahead of you... it turns into later... tomorrow... just a little longer....

I give props to the authors that have been cranking out chapters and entire books during this downtime. Me... I feel like I'm moving at a snail's pace. Maybe a slug image would be better than a lazy squirrel?

The title of this blog entry is writer's block... but I don't know if its entirely accurate. Is it still called writer's block if you know exactly what's going to happen next... that you've rehearsed the dialogue sections aloud in your car? That all you have left is to push the keys on your laptop?

I don't know, but that's sure what it feels like.

BRB... going to find my motivation.
